Every woman is beautiful, but only ones with healthy skin and hair look all-around perfect and flawless. Your skin and hair are affected by your diet, lifestyle, sleep routine, environment, and omnipresent factors such as pollution or harsh climate which are impossible to avoid. Whether it’s cold and dry or sunny and windy, your body has to bear it all. But, if conditions are tough, then so are we!

Keeping your skin healthy, and thereby beautiful, is simpler than you think. Only a set of simple natural, homemade remedies to follow and you’re saved from the expensive chemical products that do more harm than good to your skin. Therefore fear not, we have compiled our own handpicked remedies to get healthy skin and hair at home.

An easy and effective tip that you can follow daily or every other day is applying the fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your entire face and neck. The citric acid present in lemon helps keep the skin clear by removing dead cells, and its vitamin C content helps reduce dark spots by increasing the cell renewal process. You have to leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Afterward, rub cucumber slices on your skin to soften and moisturize it.

To exfoliate your skin, mix two teaspoons each of lemon juice and sugar and apply the mixture to your face, neck, and hands. Scrub in a circular motion and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. This remedy can be followed once a week for glowing skin.

One of most effective homemade remedies or a clear and glowing skin is the infamous ‘besan-haldi’ paste. Make the paste by mixing turmeric powder and gram flour with milk or milk cream. Apply it evenly on your skin and leave it on until it dries. Wash it off with lukewarm water, scrubbing your skin gently in a circular motion for at least 5-10 minutes.

For a radiant skin, another measure can be mixing two teaspoons of milk and one teaspoon of honey with another teaspoon of gram flour. Honey is a great moisturizer also has antibacterial properties that help as a precaution against skin infections. Apply this face mask all over your face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water. You can repeat this process once a week.

Possibly one of the best natural products for your skin is aloe vera. It works as an antibacterial, an astringent and also has anti-inflammatory properties. All you need to do is extract the gel from aloe vera leaf and apply it using a cotton ball. Allow it to dry on its own for about half an hour, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. This remedy is a simple one can be used daily.

Fuller’s earth (multani mitti)is an effective ingredient to get rid of pimples, dirt, and oil from the face. All you need to do is Mix some rose water in multani mitti and apply it evenly on the face. Allow it to dry and then wash it off and pat-dry your face.

You can improve the overall appearance of your skin by using cucumber as a hydrant and moisturizer. Cut a fresh cucumber into thick slices, and rub them thoroughly all over your face. Leave it on overnight and rinse with warm water in the morning. Follow this remedy every night before going to bed.

You can also cleanse your face using a mixture of baking soda and water/lemon juice/curd. Baking soda works as an excellent exfoliating agent to keep the skin free of dirt, impurities and dead skin cells. Use the aforementioned mixture to gently exfoliate your skin. Finally, rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat it dry with a towel. Follow this remedy two or three times a week.

Healthy Hair Tips

Healthy hair looks and feels soft. But if your hair has become too dry or hair fall is a constant trouble, here is what you should do:

Use onion juice. Onion juice has sulfur in it which boosts the production of collagen tissues. These tissues assist in hair growth. You will only need red onions, even shallots would do. Take two to four onions. Grate them and squeeze out the pulp to get its juice. Massage your scalp with it and let it be for an hour. Then wash off your hair with a mild shampoo and water.

Another useful vegetable that helps your hair grow is a potato. Along with onions, you can also use potatoes to grow your hair. In fact, potato juice can even cure thinning of hair due to ‘alopecia.’ Potatoes are rich in certain vitamins like vitamins A, B, and C. Grate 3-4 potatoes and squeeze out the juice from the pulp. Massage your scalp with the juice for at least 15 minutes. Rinse off with water. If your hair is very dry, instead of using just the potato juice, you can use this potato hair mask: Add egg yolk and honey to the potato juice and mix well. Apply it on your scalp and leave it for at least half an hour. Then wash it off with mild shampoo and water.

One of the best proteins for your hair is the egg white. What you need is one or two eggs and massage your scalp with the liquids in it. Let it sit there for an hour, preferably covered with a shower cap. Then wash it off with a mild shampoo and water.
